It is easy to learn and to use and in case of need the support is always ready to solve any problem. Absolutely recommended.

Nachteile

It is a young project and therefore some features are to be implemented, but there are no shortcomings that make the platform unusable.

All the features I need to manage our manufacturing and inventory for our Shopify stores is in this app ! Easy to use.

Nachteile

It is a bit slow at times and the creation of product recipes is a lengthy process.

The fact that Katana is always available and so easy to navigate with saves time.
Our requests for new features like back order handling, serial number tracking and multi currency and warehousing some of them already implemented and some coming soon.
The fact that we response fairly quickly on questions that we have submitted.

It was probably moving over from a well known package like Pastel Evolution to something not familiar to me; but the transition was seamless.

Vorteile

I really like that I'm able to save my product's SOPs and can easily find them when I need to make more! It is very handy to have that feature. I also enjoy that after I have made the product, I can add the inventory through a stock adjustment. It's a very simple process that is not convoluted. Big fan!

Nachteile

The only thing that I don't love is when I am doing a stock adjustment I have to do the math on each item to get it to the correct total. For example: If I start the week with 35 of a specific item and throughout the week, say, 17 get purchased, when I do inventory and account for that, I have to use the calculator to figure out 35 -17 = correct total. And I have to do that math for each individual item.

Easy to learn, easy to set up and user friendly. It is the perfect visual tool to immediately show what orders are available for production and which are not with the inventory you have on hand. Easy for shop floor workers to understand and implement. Improved shop to office communication. Makes scheduling easy and quick.

Nachteile

I wish it had an integrated scheduling calendar that could be personalized and blocked out according to production times per order. I also wish when you backed up it would go to the previous page and not take you back to the main sell or make page causing you to have to find where you were again. Minor improvements would make this software pretty close to perfect for us.

I own a small, specialized machine shop and previously we have not had any inventory control or planning systems. When a customer called for a part, we went to the inventory and look at how many we had, if it was short we quickly ordered material and rushed there manufacturing to meet the order. Katana has given us visibility into our inventory supply as well as provided invaluable insight into our planning and work scheduling. Additionally it has helped identify areas for improvement in our workflow. Katana is an excellent app for managing inventory and processes.

Nachteile

We would like to be able to set stock up to quantities so that once the minimum stock is reached the software advises how many to make/purchase.

Vorteile

I love the seamless integration and recipe functionality. I build a product digitally as I would in the real world, using a range of materials and operations in sub-products. From here the final product has all these components embedded into the 'recipe'. A very holistic approach.

Nachteile

Being a small manufacturer we felt like this was the only decent option out there, and priced quite highly for small teams it can seem like excess cost - however it's already paid for itself.

Vorteile

If you use Shopify, than you can easily integrate and sync with Katana.

As a very valuable side-effect we got a MUCH better understanding of the overall production activities and their cost.

Katana also helps you with reminders of when to purchase certain items in order to keep your delivery dates.

Nachteile

As someone who have not been in control of production and inventory before, I would have appreciated a free trial that where 4 weeks and not 2 weeks.

That said, we asked for some extra time and we got a longer test period.

Fast, powerful, easy to learn, with a clean and consistent connection to QuickBooks Online. Great user interface and robust support materials.

Nachteile

It can be a bit pricey, starting at about $100 for the first user, but it’s been worth it. I’d like to see native, integrated barcoding support.

The Katana MRP interface is very easy to use and the steps are logical with help integrated into each section. The access to the knowledge base is good and the support team are efficient.

This is a relatively new software system (a couple of years old) and it is still rolling out new features, so my only (minor) point is that they don't have every aspect I need for my business and the cost for extra users is a little higher than I would have liked.

Katana's platform is very user friendly with great functionality of inventory management. I especially appreciate it's 'Make to Batch' functionality which allows for users to track pre-produced products and allowing for future drawdowns.

Still new to software but I would say the response to issues is slightly delayed as I believe team is overseas, the information they give is great and fixes my misunderstandings/errors, it is just slightly delayed.

The best thing about Katana is that you can follow the whole process of manufacturing. We have tried many similar softwares but they usually lack some crucial components in the manufacturing pipeline. The user interface is extremely easy to use, and their customer support is extraordinary, too.

It is quite costly, but it is definitely worth the price.

The set-up time for Katana was quite quick, and helped us set up our inventory management system in a short time. It helps us manage products with many variations and complex recipes quite easily.

The manufacturing order process is a bit slow, as it is only possibile to add one product per MO, which might not be ideal for business with a lot of products being created daily.

The software is fairly easier to use as compared to other providers. It's pretty straight forward and the booking system gives us an immediate glimpse of our current production status. Customer service is also excellent!

The company behind Katana is relatively new, so there are still a lot more features that they can add but I know they have been working on them! Would love to have access control options feature.

I am admittedly new to Manufacturing Resource Planning tools. I can say though that I was surprised at how extremely intuitive Katana's user interface is. This makes it very easy for all the team to quickly get on board and start using Katana. By my estimations, the cost of not using this software easily exceeds the cost of NOT using it, by a) preventing manufacturing and operational delays, and b) saving time tracking the status of inventory and manufacturing.

Nachteile

Being very picky, I'd like to see more options to document the manufacturing operation steps by adding images, rich text, headers etc.

The price makes Katana most attractive. It is also intuitive to set up and use. Katana also provided helpful onboarding assistance.

The software is a bit limited with respect to features for or customization of PO's.

We tried several ERP systems for our manufacturing business without a lot of luck. Katana, without question, is one of the best and more affordable options we've come across. Coupled with their incredible support, we wouldn't recommend anything else.

While they're super responsive to feature requests, Katana doesn't include an API or Hook.

We use Katana everyday to track our supply flows through different warehouses and to get the average value in stock. Once the main integration is made it is easy to use.
Katana team members were always available to help us through this process and still are when needed.

Our use of Katana is limited since we are not handling our production ourselves, so we don't use all the functions available and have to adjust the features to our business. Small changes like adjusting the interface according to the daily customer needs would be a real bonus.

The ability for production to see their orders in advance has decreased lead time on order changes, also has opened lines of communication that should've been in place between management, logistics and production teams that have led to more productivity and less waste

There were multiple problems with barcode scanning that lead to some delays in the beginning

Katana is visual, modern and easy to use. I get an instant overview of where we're standing without unnecessary features crowding the picture. It works for both the managerial team as well as the production unit fulfilling the orders.

I am able to organize the production of my "made to order" orders. I used to just use excel sheets and this is so much easier to use and manage since it imports the orders from shopify!

There is a lot to the software program, and we are still learning, but customer service is always available to assist in answering any questions, and so far each employee that has used it, agrees that it is easy to navigate through.

Batch tracking was something we needed and always faced issues with. It is now solved using this software.

To raise a PO to purchase certain materials from suppliers, it would be good if a list of all the items supplied by the selected supplier can appear on the screen to select from rather than remembering which supplier each ingredients come from.

Most useful feature for me is to be able to import orders from multiple sources, like Shopify stores. Easily manage all my orders on one place. Also Katana has easy onboarding, just start using it.

It seems to me that Katana does not meet the price level at the moment, but it is constantly being supplemented and improved. New features are added regularly. Definitely soon it will become the best software in its niche.

This software is seriously lacking features. For all those who wrote reviews saying they love the software, I want to know what industry they work in and how they use the app. It doesnt offer very basic features. You can't bulk edit, you literally need to upload an excel sheet if you want to change several products. There are no images for your products. How does it not support images? This is basic database stuff. And currently, you can only manufacture items from one location! Who's rating this software as great?!
