I use this software for object and environment modeling, and makes the process process super fast and easy. I love the quality of the materials that you can get with V-ray, the details on things like wood or concrete are incredible. I love it for my work.

Even though is a 3D software, the animation part of it is not that intuitive like other software. And also is hard to get good information about animation process using 3ds Max covering the whole pipeline for videogames or regular animation.

At first, I was just learning to start making projects for video games and interior rendering and so, but then I started liking how the interface is simple yet professional and detailed. It has a very large data of tutorials for beginners, and anyone can work in it since there are lots of tutorials provided by the company or on the internet.

It's true that anyone can use it but that defers for one to one for as it is known for those who've tried it; it has a very stiff learning curve, And unless you have a student license, you'd have to pay a generous sum plus fees for online courses if you want to learn quickly. And it really consumes your PC so you'd wanna have a decent setup.

I use 3ds max for architecture classical and simple projects, as well as experimental and organic. the construction on this software is not always the best option, but the rendering with vray is great! it is the reason i keep using this software. it give a very professional result, and the effects are perfect and impressive. so that is the best feature in 3ds max for my personnel use.

building a project on 3ds max with precision will end up needing a plan from autocad to extrude the volumes from it. it is not fast and easy to be able to draw base lines directly on this software.
the interface is not very user friendly. it takes time to get used to it, many function can be hidden. it will take time to get used to it. and finally, this software is "becoming" expensive, relatively to some software that are very professional and completely free!

I utilise 3ds max for architecture projects that are both traditional and straightforward, as well as experimental and organic. Complex forms 3D modelling is just superb, you can achieve results for any type of architectural buildings, which is the main reason we use 3ds Max. Even if you manage curves, the snap function helps a lot for precision. The compatibility with Autodesk and external software is a plus, and most renderers work with 3ds Max which is awesome. Totally recommended.

I can't say i dislike anything from 3ds max, but if you are a beginner, you might feel like the interface is heavy. It is not a self-teach software, you should get a course for it or check several tutorials.

I've used this software since 2007 and I'm amazed at how this renders objects on it's own.- Best used from simple projects to a more complex and gaming characterizations and 3D movies.- The level of customizability can be done up to the DNA level. - The rendering quality is just amazingly stunning, even on it's own rendering engine, couple it with third-party rendering software, it makes object render output even more elaborate.

- One major issue I have with 3DS Max is the learning curve. It's harder to learn than, say, Cinema 4D. It is kind of verbose and complex to learn. I need a bit of persistence to learn it.- It has a very heavy native payload. It has like 8 to 9GB of payload on it's own. So, now if you add more libraries and other third-parties the load will even be more heavy.

It’s important to know the software you are using, and while 3ds max is the industry standard for 3d modeling it is not always the most user-friendly software. It’s certainly one of the best known and respected, however. The main interface consists of three windows which let you enter data, view your model and work in detail.

The basic window features have an easy to understand format and work well with the interface.
Most of the basic settings are available through the right-hand button menus on the interface and the basic controls are easy to use. In many ways it is similar to photoshop in that there is an extensive array of control options, though some are quite more accessible in 3ds max than photoshop.

If you are a newcomer to 3d max then it can be a bit of a challenge but once you know the interface you can move around the software quickly and easily.

It’s important to understand that not all 3d max features are available all the time – only those which are enabled are active. Many of the features of the software are disabled when not in use so while you can create complex models in max you can’t actually use the model.

You can still have the model – just not use it.
Models are often referred to as meshes. There are different types of mesh. To create a standard box you will need a surface mesh and you will also need at least three vertices – three dots – on the box for the front face, and on each of the four sides.

Once you understand the basics you can create very sophisticated models in 3d max, but like any modeling package it takes a little getting used to.

A surface modeling tool such as a sphere tool, will draw a face on the model. A ‘point tool’, such as a vertex tool, will pick out a number of points around the model. If you then select the ‘select tool’ a menu appears, letting you select the shape you want to do, such as picking out a number of points on the surface.

To create more complicated models it is often easier to select groups of vertices, then use the standard tools to bend the model in various ways to produce the required shape.
