Vorteile

We use Zenkit for managing a small team of Big data developers. Having recently gone agile, my team loves the fact that the a new collection is Kanban ready right from the start. However the most important aspect of Zenkit is its ability to switch between the different views. Especially important is the ability to customize the collections and our workflow by adding fields, aggregations , checklists etc. The table view is one of our favourites for this purpose. Also, a lot of our brainstorming eventually ends up in the Mind Map view , capturing the flow of thoughts.

Would also like to give shout out to the excellent support Zenkit offers.

Nachteile

Having migrated from Trello, it is quite natural that comparisons will be made. Some small functionalities like a web bookmarklet etc are missing. But it is just a matter of time that the highly active dev team will cover these.

I love how easy it is to use and how much stress it takes off of me. I could not ask for a better way to organize.

Nachteile

I don't care for the website's first appearance but that's just one opinion. I think it does not do the app justice.

It is highly customizable and the support is excellent. The screen didn't originally drag horizontally in Kanban and I mentioned it to support and it was added as a feature that day. The appearance is clean and easy to navigate and they seem to be constantly iterating on new features.

Nachteile

It is slow. Opening cards takes a several seconds sometimes which is a bummer coming from Trello's usually zippy interface. There are a few interface bugs I get sometimes and I feel the paid membership is a bit costly for what it gets me.

It has 5 views kanban, list, table, calender and mindmap...I don't know any other app, that has such great personalization.

that I don't have day view in calender...but it isn't so bad point for me

It is completely customizable and has all of the features I need to keep track of a large and rapidly updating pool of law school applicants. It allows me to stay on top of each potential student, in a way that makes sense for me (as opposed to the software solution the larger organization has selected, which is not customized for my department)

Nachteile

No complaints or even additional features needed for my specific use case scenario.

I feel like it can be a bit buggy and can use some polishing. I'd also like if we could customize the layout even more.

I was very happy, when Wunderlist went invisible, that I was able to import all my files, lists, schedules and archives into Zenkit. I expected to make few adjustments and carry on with my routines as they had been.

Nachteile

I like to use repeat functions on lists, so that daily / weekly / monthly tasks can be entered, set up and forgotten. I have been unable to do this with ease in Zenkit.

The kanban flexibility is awesome! Being able to group in multiple different ways, and visualize notes and attachments is very useful.

Nachteile

With complex projects, setting dependencies and having a gantt visual would make this the software for us.

I've only been using this a short while, but so far I've discovered you essentially can take what you'd write in software like Evernote and quickly transform it into to-do lists, a Trello-like layout or even make it into a mind map.

Nachteile

It has a tiny learning curve as you first set everything up.

I'm a big fan of how versatile the views are (for example, you can use a slider bar to choose how much detail to show in a kanban view).

Nachteile

There seem to be a few technical glitches--sometimes the app takes a while to update or gets stuck on the loading screen. It'll also restart sometimes but then never load.

I've tried every task/project management service out there and there is nothing that matches the simplicity yet flexibility of Zenkit. It's much more powerful than Trello without becoming complicated and it's even able to do most of what JIRA does. The way you can customise it reminds me a bit of Filemaker, in that it gives you the power to create and interact with a custom database whilst abstracting the complexity in doing so.

Nachteile

It's a little rough around the edges. Currently you cannot delete items, only archive them, and you cannot easily view all archived items in a collection. There's also no easy way to collate data across collections (e.g. if you want to see all items with the same status across collections). But to be fair, the fields in each collection are specific to that collection, so do so will require some work.

It's a new approach that fits with what I've been looking for. The ability to see information / data in different views types with filters is very useful and fits my work type well. My work is very varied and Zenkit copes with that very well.

Nachteile

Not much, Some form of aggregating boards up for reporting as I use it for task and project management would be useful, I understand this is in the development roadmap. Have to say the support and development team are very receptive to feedback and feature requests as well as standard support

In Zenkit, I especially like:
- the possibility to create different custom data fields, checklists, attach files etc.
- the combination of different selectable views (Kanban, Table, ...)
- the possibility to export data

Nachteile

- It might be useful to add attachments to individual comments (like in trello) instead all together at the top level of a card
- Export/import functionality could be further extended to allow for easy data exchange between Zenkit and other programs

Vorteile

The tool is extremely customizable, and the killer features for me is the customizable, 2-dimensional kanban boards, @mention in comments and 'savable' filters. Perfect for agile project management with multiple deliverables and team members.

Nachteile

If I'm creating new items in kanban mode, I need first to create the item, then open it to add all the details. Would be cool if it popped up the window as part of the first workflow, or better yet; let me use @mention and #labels as I type ( i Know #labels are there, but I need to remember the exact label. I would prefer to have a list pop up as I type)

Something Zenkit does very well is allowing us to chose which view fits our workflow best. Each of my collections was set with a specific view, allowing a easy and comfortable productivity vibe.

Nachteile

Two things could be better worked. First, some attachments don't have a built-in preview mode and I'm not talking about some dark and secretive file format, but pdf, for instance. Secondly, the table view doesn't play well with the "done" tick in calendar view.

Apart from it I find zenkit great!

Absolute flexibility to adapt to whatever situation I need to organize and plan something, let it be a work project, a holiday trip, your grocery shopping list, a presentation at university, a mind map for a paper, ... I could go on forever!

Nachteile

To be honest: the colors! But that's probably just my taste. Apart from this, I couldn't really find anything I disliked.

Vorteile

With 5 different views of your project, ranging from simple list and calendar, to kanban (like Trello), table (like Coda), and even mindmap (is there any other product that even has this feature?), there's a lot of power in Zenkit -- and yet it's easy to forget to explore its UI to see these various views and what they can do for you. I urge you to do that exploration, at least briefly, so that you know what's there for when you might need it in the future.

Nachteile

I find it a bit weird that, even in the latest version that I just saw for the first time today, the only way to save a newly added item on the kanban view is to press the Return or Enter key on your keyboard. While it's nice for quick entry of more than one item, I feel that the UI should also allow you to click somewhere outside of the newly filled-out item to save it.

I like that Zenkit is easy to visualize to-do list and action items. I like the ability to switch back & forth between different views. It's very customizable.

Nachteile

Sometimes the user interface is a little wonky, it could be streamlined but I have been impressed by the improvements in this area just since I joined the site.

Ease of use, all the different ways to keep track of my tasks and associate them. There were so many ways to view and sort the data. It really helped me keep track of items and prioritize them.

I definitely would like a little more capabilities in the Mind Map specifically around additional grouping or associating tasks to one another

Vorteile

It's got everything. It covers Wunderlist and Trello and a Mindmap solution in one application. It's a robust application that is kind of fun to use due to all the features. Feels like you're using something that's very well thought out.

Nachteile

It's a bit sluggish, especially the mobile app. I have a thought I want to excute right away ... I hate forgetting what I was going to write becuase my application was a bit slow. I don't think it was my side, but I'll give it the possibility that it's just me and not Zenkit --- but overall, it's excellent.

Vorteile

It is so absolutely endlessly flexible and interconnected. I can view my data in every way that is useful to me without restriction.

Nachteile

Entirely browser-based. I want to use this offline from my iPad with a native app that behaves as I expect. Not long-tap oops not that, tap tap tap, ok not that either, and try try again. Really frustrating to use on iPad.

Vorteile

Zenkit has all of the best features that Trello could give you and boosts it. My fav feature there is possibility to convert your workspace to different types (Kanban like in trello, simple list, detailed table which you can export to Excell and my personal choice - mindmap).

Sometimes converting your project to other views/modes was buggy and some data was lost.

The Only thing I miss in zenkit is the lack of native mobile apps. Its only a web app.

Zenkit is versatile. You can view the information in the way that works best for you, which may not work for every member of your team. The phrase "You can't please everyone!" does not apply with this application.

There are a few things I'd like to see added, but overall I'm very pleased with the software. I'd like to see enhanced exporting to Excel and Outlook reminders.

Zenkit is very useful as it allows for different views of boards, e.g. Kanban, Lists, etc. which help me to organize my personal and professional things. I also liked the real high customizability allowing me to work on many different kind of projects.

So far, there is nothing I could complain about.

The best thing about Zenkit is how many different options are available for you to use to store information. I really like the mind map option. Zenkit makes it easy to organize my work life. It is very beneficial to have one place where I can track my goals and projects. It is also not too complicated for users.

Nachteile

No cons to report here. Even the price of the upgraded version isn’t too bad, unlike some other services on the market.

Trivial to get started, and switching collection types makes sense - changing your checklist to a Kanban board is a 2-second process.

Not every style transition works flawlessly (yet!) so I can't trivially make my checklist a mind map. Happily, there's no data lost if I experiment!

The different views and ways to work with the tasks are incredible: from kanban and calendar views to an excel-lookalike. And most of all it has one feature that a lot of other tools are missing: an aggregation of customized data from different tasks, which enables a powerful capacity / resources planning like "estimated hours per week / hours per day". I have been testing a lot of tools, and this was finally the one that hat all features I needed without being to complex or complicated.

Nachteile

What could be improved is editing tasks directly without a separate window popping up. This would speed up entering crucial data like "estimated hours". But this is no real con, just something that could be improved :).

I like the ease with which we can use this software. My project managers are very happy after using this. It has a lot of different project management features (eg. customizable templates) which was unknown to the software development team.

Some lack of proper documentation which makes it difficult to understand at first

The simplified UI allows you to focus on what needs to be done, while still retaining many important features, under sub menus. The site is accessible and responsive, though I saw mobile clients were in the works.

Nachteile

Since it's a relatively new project, it's lacking features of other "enterprise" options like Trello or even Jira, but if you need that kind of software you won't be happy with something so simple that allows you to GTD. There are no mobile clients, but they're in the pipeline and I have no doubt they'll continue the intuitive and clean design of the site. Personally this board is all that it needs to be, but none of what it doesn't.

It's so intuitive, there's very little learning curve, it looks great, and it WORKS. I like how projects/tasks can be linked.

I would love to see the iOS app have a little more functionality on older iOS versions. I'm running 10.3.3 and Zenkit doesn't work on it.

Love that in Kanban when you click a task, the details window comes up on the side - and does not clear the rest of the screen.

It has a lot os customization possibilities. It allows you to create custom fields, which is great. It also allows to view tasks on kanban style, list style, table style. It has a calendar view. I think it is a better alternative than Trello, as you can set up detailed reminders.

Nachteile

It could have more options os free themes. Due to the high customization capabilities, you have to take care not to get confused by so much information. I also miss subtasks.

Zenkit allows multiple views of a database. This is great for budgets, kanban/Agile, Work Breakdown Structure, and collaboration. Custom tags, Task Assignments, File Attachments. Zenkit empowers users to get creative in how they enter, manipulate, and view data. It is the Project Management database and collaboration tool of dreams.

Nachteile

As of yet, exporting data in free version is limited to a csv file of table contents. You have to work to get your info into Excel and then you'll likely do a lot of formatting to make it presentable. Future options for MindMap, Gannt, and report-ready files would be nice.

We have been using Zenkit for almost 6 months and we love it. It's great for project planning and management.

Nachteile

I would love to have more control on edit permission so only certain users can edit certain fields.

Vorteile

The number of display options that let you see and think about your information from multiple ways and angles. I find this stimulates critical thinking about my projects in a very effective way. The price is effective and you get a lot for the free option.

Nachteile

It's hard to find many cons on Zenkit. I have to spend more time on understanding setting up the Mind Map feature. The main screen doesn't seem to show a direct "Help with this feature" link (that I could see at least). Nothing a Google search doesn't fix though.
