## Nutzerbewertungen

### "Review of Gitlab for developers from a AI developer" — 5.0/5

> **Manish Bhandari** | *30. Januar 2026* | Informationstechnologie & -dienste | Empfehlungsbewertung: 9.0/10
>
> **Vorteile**: I really like how GitLab now combines AI‑powered workflows through GitLab Duo—like code suggestions, inline chat, test generation, and refactoring—directly in the UI and IDE, while also offering a full DevSecOps platform with built‑in CI/CD, security scanning, project tracking, a modern panel‑based interface that keeps issues, merge requests, and Duo side‑by‑side, plus strong self‑hosting and GitOps support for enterprises that want fine‑grained control and security.
>
> **Nachteile**: What I like least about GitLab now is that its broad feature set—spanning CI/CD, security, project management, and AI—can feel overwhelming and complex, especially for smaller teams, and the UI still comes across as dense or cluttered for some workflows despite the panel‑based redesign, while advanced tiers and add‑ons like Duo Enterprise can get expensive at scale and larger setups sometimes run into performance hiccups or merge‑conflict friction.
>
> Overall: My recent experience with GitLab has been very positive, especially with the introduction of AI‑native workflows through GitLab Duo, which makes coding, reviewing, and refactoring faster and more convenient directly within the interface. The integrated DevSecOps capabilities—covering CI/CD, security scanning, and project management—create a cohesive environment that streamlines collaboration and helps teams move from idea to deployment efficiently. At the same time, the platform’s breadth can feel complex at first, and the UI may appear dense in some workflows, particularly for smaller teams or those new to GitLab. Additionally, advanced tiers and AI add‑ons can become costly at scale, and very large installations can still encounter occasional performance or merge‑conflict friction. Overall, though, GitLab effectively empowers teams to build, secure, and ship software in one place, allowing developers to focus more on delivery and innovation rather than juggling multiple disconnected tools.

### "Experience with gitlab" — 5.0/5

> **sirjan** | *15. Juni 2025* | Informationstechnologie & -dienste | Empfehlungsbewertung: 8.0/10
>
> **Vorteile**: I've been using GitLab since the start of my career, and honestly, it's just so good. While there isn’t a huge difference between GitLab and GitHub in terms of core functionality, GitLab really stands out when you're working within a closed group or using it in an organization. The built-in CI/CD, issue tracking, and permission controls make it incredibly smooth for team collaboration and managing private repositories efficiently. For internal projects and streamlined workflows, GitLab has been my go-to
>
> **Nachteile**: While GitLab offers a lot of great features, one thing that can be limiting—especially for startups—is that many essential features are locked behind the paid tiers. For example, creating a group and being able to add only a few members in the free version feels a bit restrictive when you're trying to scale a small team. Similarly, features like advanced branch protection rules, which are quite important for maintaining code quality and workflows, aren't fully available in the free plan. It would be great if GitLab could offer more flexibility for early-stage teams who rely on these core features to build solid development practices.
>
> Overall, my experience with GitLab has been great.
I’ve been using it since the beginning of my career, and it’s always felt reliable and developer-friendly. While there isn’t a huge difference between GitLab and GitHub feature-wise, GitLab really shines when working within a closed group or an organization. The built-in CI/CD, project management tools, and permission handling make it an excellent choice for team-based workflows.

That said, one challenge I’ve faced—especially from a startup perspective—is that some essential features are limited in the free version. For instance, group member limits and restrictions around branch protection rules can become a bottleneck when you're trying to scale a small team with good practices. It would definitely help if GitLab offered a bit more flexibility in its free tier for early-stage teams.

Still, despite these limitations, GitLab remains a strong, all-in-one DevOps platform that I’ve enjoyed working with.

### "Good product, average support" — 3.0/5

> **Ben** | *24. Dezember 2025* | Informationstechnologie & -dienste | Empfehlungsbewertung: 6.0/10
>
> **Vorteile**: Having still used GitLab for over a few years now, we have found it to still be very useful for our development and storage purposes. The price is a little more acceptable now that competitors have also increased their price.
>
> **Nachteile**: The support we needed for some bugs with incorrectly notified false-positives and other issues were not quickly resolved and left our development team twiddling their fingers.
>
> We still use GitLab to this date and have nothing to fault, as long as nothing goes wrong during this time.

### "GitLab is great and underrated" — 4.0/5

> **Samer** | *2. Februar 2026* | Computer-Software | Empfehlungsbewertung: 8.0/10
>
> **Vorteile**: It includes the version control and change tracking capabilities, which are managed by git in addition to the CI/CD, which helps automate the work. And all of that is for free. which is great.
>
> **Nachteile**: Sometimes I find it complex to use, so I prefer GitHub much more and do not have it as my main version control website or software.
>
> I use it for checking on the companies and developers that are more concentrated in it, instead of GitHub and save the related work there. A long time ago, when I used to have continuous development events, I preferred them on GitHub Actions or other platforms.

### "Best git provider for most commercial use cases" — 5.0/5

> **Verifizierter Rezensent** | *22. Februar 2025* | Informationstechnologie & -dienste | Empfehlungsbewertung: 8.0/10
>
> **Vorteile**: Multiple edition that can fit your project/company needs (e.g. free SaaS edition, self-hosted community edition, Enterprise). Great developer ergonomics, with plenty of customisations that fulfill all complex development/enterprise requirements.
>
> **Nachteile**: Not as good for community features (e.g. public open-source projects, developer profile) compared to Github, which also gets a bit more publicity.
