Vorteile

Quark ist für mich seit mehr als 25 Jahren ein unverzichtbares Werkzeug in meinem beruflichen Alltag. Besonders schätze ich, dass es eine Offline-Version gibt – etwas, das man erst richtig zu schätzen weiß, wenn das Internet ausfällt und Cloud-Dienste nicht verfügbar sind.

Ein weiterer Pluspunkt: der persönliche Kundensupport! Statt sich mühsam durch Foren zu wühlen, bekommt man direkte Hilfe – völlig zurecht, denn schließlich zahlt man für die Software, sei es einmalig oder im Abo.

Ich benutze Quark seit über 30 Jahren. Und immer noch bin ich sehr zufrieden. Kurze und versuchsweise "Ausflüge" zu anderen Produkten waren nicht erfolgreich und als alter "Quarkler" letztendlich wieder zurück gekehrt...

Eigentlich nur der Preis - ansonsten eine top Software mit quasi unendlichen Möglichkeiten...

Auf diesem Rechner läuft aber nur noch QXP 2020, was auch so bleiben soll. Zugang zur License Management Console wird verwehrt. Ein Login ist nicht möglich. Zwei Mails an den Support sind auch nach einer Woche unbeantwortet. Zum Glück habe ich noch Adobe ...

Vorteile

Bis zur Version 10 super, das Beste was es gab auf dem Markt.
Bis Version 2018 war es zumindest noch gut erträglich (mit etwas Hartnäckigkeit).
Jetzt, QXPress 2020 und viele (wohl auch Unternehmensübertragungen) Jahre später… Es ist leider Zeit Adieu zu sagen. Schmerzlich aber meine Geduld hat ein Ende.

Nachteile

Das Programm selbst ist nach wie vor - außergewöhnlich gut.
Alles drumherum, vom Support, Kunden-Login, Manual… einfach so miserabel - damit kann man nicht vernünftig arbeiten. Man wünscht sich Quark 10.0 zurück.

I can make a newspaper page in just 10 minutes, because of the ease of handling the palette of styles and predesigned templates in a window, the QPS function for me is great for assigning press releases to journalists easily and quickly. equally the way to create the styles is quite easy

It is horrible that this program suddenly closes for no reason, both in mac and pc, I do not know if it is because it requires a lot of memory, because I also do not like it to be quite heavy, and when handling many jpeg files the interface becomes slow , so I'm forced to do it some time in several documents. The way I manage bitmaps does not please me very much.

It's a page layout powerhouse and does what it is intended to do. It's fairly user friendly and easy to learn the ins and outs.

Because Quark is a stand alone software, it loses any integration options with other programs that designers use on a daily basis. For this reason alone, it's difficult to rationalize using Quark instead of InDesign, which has so many crossovers with Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat.

Its the original desktop publishing software for creative professionals and its very easy to convert documents into interactive, digital experiences with this software. QuarkXPress is a good tool for Print and Digital Layouts, like Newspapers, Magazines, Brochures, eBooks, HTML5, Android/iPhone etc.

Ever since it was released in 1987 QuarkXPress has dominated the Desktop Publishing.
I use Quarkexpress because when its come to page layout it is the best one out there because of its simplicity.its text tools are very user-friendly and lets you get the job done very quickly and efficiently.
Also, QuarkXPress supports more printers than any other desktop publishing software.

There is not much not to like about QuarkXpress.
Maybe PDF exports could be easier in the future

Accurate, fast, reliable and a very powerful bit of kit and that's all that matters in my book.

I do find the software slow to load and I do have frequent crashes. I also find it does not use all the fonts and font weights that my system has, that I know work within Photoshop for example.

QuarkXPress is a great tool to have. Our company uses it for page design and it was easy to learn and master. We also recently used it for a book design.

It will sometimes lock up and close out on its own, losing any unsaved changes. It can be very frustrating. It happens on several computers, so we're not sure if it is our server or the program causing the issue.

You have full control over elements of the design and can incorporate a plethora of different elements. With their conversion and simple importing you can work on a variety of filetypes and incorporate many elements into a piece.

Although the user interface is pretty intuitive and simple - it is very outdated. The design of the program doesn't hold up to the designs it can produce. This design of the program can be off putting and visually tiring/harsh. There's also the unfortunate fact that Adobe has more options and capabilities that QuarkXPress doesn't which leads me back to alternate programs.

User friendly!!! The software is like a desk and the many applications are similar to items on that desk. You can easily drag any item to the place you desire. Open boxes for pictures, text etc are so easy and functional. I love this software. Frequent updates which make the products even more so wonderful.

Need to upgrade my Apple computer as it is not compatible when the software is updated as frequent as it does. It becomes compatible with a new computer OS.

Quark is a great way to put together newspaper pages. It's easy to design award-winning, sharp pages, and I have won multiple industry awards using Quark. There are so many useful functions that assist the page builder, and it's a fast program once all the nuances are learned.

Very few cons, maybe the most being that it tends to crash occasionally. But sometimes it crashes more on different computers, so it may not be a total problem with the program.

It has a full suite of advanced typography tools, a smart approach to page layout, powerful style sheets, graphics management and much more.

I've been using Quark XPress since version 1x on my second-generation Mac with 8KB, starting in 1985! *** Some years later, I tried Adobe In-Design, but immediately went back to using XP—and never left! *** In my former life, before retiring in 2004, I was editor and publisher of dozens of newsletters, calendars, and special publications, and XP never failed to provide me with wonderful finished products. These days, I use it mostly for writing and simple projects, but wouldn't dream of using anything other than XP.

I've been wracking my brain, and can't think of a thing! Oh, wait: When I bring up a new project it comes up full screen, so I need to take 2 seconds to adjust the screen size! Trust me, that's a miniscule price to pay for an amazing product!!!

When you do a File Save As, Quark continues to use the original file instead of switching to the new file you saved, as all other document processing software does. For example, assume you've created a "template" file that is the basic starting point of some common output. You do a File Save As to MyNewBook, but the focus remains on the Template. If you don't remember to open MyNewBook, your changes end up in the original Template file instead of MyNewBook. It's not a show-stopper, but it's annoying at times after realizing all of the changes are in the original starting file and not the one you created.

I've been using Quark for since it came out in the late 80's...and this iteration is by far the best yet. Very intuitive and almost a stand alone app with all the capabilities. I like the export function the best. I can create pdfs and pngs directly from the app! I don't have to crank up the old distiller anymore.

Nachteile

The only thing I do not like about Quark is that after exporting a pdf to my desktop for delivery to a client, the pdf icon does not render correctly in some cases. Mostly when there are gradients. Clients who see the icon believe that the real file is corrupt, which it is NOT. I have to explain to the client that the icon did not render correctly and that the file should be viewed after opening. I addressed this issue with Quark and they went deep and decided it may be an issue with the OS,so, it may not be a Quark issue at all.

Même s'il paraît rébarbatif à l'ouverture pour un non-initié, et qu'il lui arrive de planter sans qu'on sache pourquoi, j'apprécie sa rigueur, sa logique. Avec lui les choses sont claires et cohérentes. C'est un appui constant pour mon travail au quotidien. Je peux aussi travailler sur de très grands formats, importer des vectoriels (fichiers natifs) et les retravailler, composer des dépliants, des flyers, des brochures, tout un tas de documents divers sans souci.

Nachteile

Le traitement de texte manque d'un correcteur orthographique, et d'un système de césure automatique performant. Les tutos sont en Anglais or ne je parle que très peu cette langue. Il n'y a pas de support : j'ai tenté de savoir, en contactant Quark avant d'acheter la nouvelle version, si des rapports claviers ou fonctions avaient changé, et étaient susceptibles d'impacter mon flux de production, mais je n'ai pas eu d'interlocuteur. Juste un vendeur, très aimable certes, mais ce n'est pas ce que je voulais. Pas grave de toutes façons, car j'achète quand même Quark Xpress 2024, que je viens de commander. C'est incontournable pour moi.

I’ve been using it since it first came out circa 1990. I greatly prefer its layout and functions compared to its competitors, which I find ‘clunky’ by comparison. It lets me design things quickly and easily.

Nachteile

Two things; it would be great to be able to ‘switch off’ all the unwanted functions; I’m a book cover designer and 85 percent of the functions aren’t needed for what I do. The other gripe is the price; years ago you could go for several years without needing to upgrade but now it’s an annual subscription, which is costly. Or, as I’ve used Quark for so long, it would be nice to get sizeable discounts in the future.
