Must Have for landing Pages
Hotjar has allowed us to test ideas with web design. It helps confirm the effectiveness of certain visual cues, the flow of information and the effectiveness of the overall sales funnel by showing us exactly where the viewers attention is going on our web page. It has been an essential source for our overall analytics and critical to our design process.
Vorteile
Hotjar adds a much-needed type of analytics to your arsenal. It allows you to see exactly what your page-viewers (potential buyers) are doing, seeing and spending time on your landing page or funnel. It allows you to test different design cues or features and see how your targets react.
Also, the pricing is very convenient. Having this tool for free up to 200 pageviews per day is huge.
it's just one of those tools that you need if you want to build new landing pages and help them convert.
Nachteile
The only issue I've had with this tool thus far is sometimes the screen recordings come out laggy or completely black, but this happens rarely. Other than that, it's been very informative and a great addition to our toolset.

Almost a Must
Almost perfect, found some bugs while using it, but always had a good response from the customer team.
Vorteile
Hotjar is a tool that almost every optimizer or ux designer should use, no doubts. Is easy to use, cheap, and besides the famous heatmaps it has a lot of other functions like polls or user recordings.
Also, the sharing function is great as you can share results with members of your organization that dont have an account.
Nachteile
Lacks some integrations with other tools. For example with Google Analytics, a very useful function would be showing the Events on the heatmap.

An Incredible Tool for Tracking User Behaviour on a Website
Overall, amazing experience! Recommended to anyone who is into website optimisation, SEO, and technology!
Vorteile
The best part about this tool is it lets you see what your users are doing after landing on your website. Tools like Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics provides the best information on how you acquired the user but Hotjar shows you what the users are doing after coming through different channels!
Webmasters use this data to analyse and fix the issues on their website. The implementation is easy and you can start collecting data from day 1.
Nachteile
Considering the number of benefits it has, its pricing is on a bit on the higher side. Also, I have used the Russian Tool - Yandex Metrica which provides the same amount of information for free. But if you have the budget, definitely go for it!

Powerful piece of kit
Very positive, would highly reccomend as a tool to improve site performance and to influence testing. Gives you key insights and analysis on the pain points of your site and can also add questionaire features which give invaluable information on how people find using your site.

Laden with features to help you better understand how users are interacting with your website to aid optimisations and CRO testing.
Nachteile
Against more expensive tools can feel like it lags behind in terms of UX, and the constant emails about trivial results can be tiresome to receive.

One of the best tools for checking users behavior
Pricing. The Free option is very little, and pricing for more then 100 recordes session per day is crazy
Vorteile
There are a lot of great features on Hotjar, but for me it's recordings.With this recordings feature we found out that one of our clients has bug on website, that was cleaning busket after 5 products were added to basket. So I strongly recommend, to make some records and check them, even with HotJar trial.
Nachteile
Pricing. It's not expensive tool, but we are usually using it from time to time. Not every day.

A solid marketing intelligence tool to accurately identity UX/UI issues!
There were some apps that were causing UX/UI issues but we were able to discover them quickly using the heatmaps feature to see where the pages have interacted with the most.

We were struggling to see why some of the pages had an abnormally higher bounce rate, using Hotjar's services we were able to pinpoint the issues caused because of UX/UI apps
Nachteile
All happy here with the product, the team is quite satisfied with the reports we have received from Hotjar and we're the progress filter through Google Analytics, so quite satisfied!

Helps you improve website conversions
My experience has been great I have been able to identify opportunities and create solutions that work best for my business. Plus it helps me see what areas of my website are important to users. So they can get the most helpful information they need.

Hotjar is great software to help you maximize results for your website. You can set up heatmaps to see what the high performing areas of your website are. Ask users questions as they cruise your website, plus more!
Nachteile
So far I have no cons its a pretty straightforward program and the free options work great for any user.

Helped me Understand users better
It is amazing product for tracking user journey and I would use it again on future products.
Vorteile
We used Hotjar in my company when we were working on a beta version of our product. It helped track what users were clicking on and areas they spent time on the most.
Nachteile
It was hard to differentiate the hotjar feedback widget from our existing comment form so some of our users left comments with the hotjar feedback widget.

Hotjar - Heatmaps Software Review
I've used 3 heatmap software using my own server and cloud hosted, but Hotjar is the best by far. The one i used that is server hosted gets a warning from services like Google Ads and Google Tag Manager.
Vorteile
Heatmaps, user recordings and polls are very easy to set up once your code is installed. By the way i recommend you install the tracking code using Google Tag manager which has a tag ready for hotjar, you only need to input your ID. Heatmaps are very useful when it comes to understand user behaviour and user experience. Also this software does not generate any warning from advertising networks and is 100% compliant with GDPR.
Nachteile
It automatically does not track 100% of traffic (but i think you can set up to track 100% traffic). Also sometimes is hard to go to see your settings if you have multiple business (eg: if you are and agency and your setting up heatmaps for your clients).

Great Ecommerce Optimization Tool
Great heat-mapping tool that should be standard in any growth-driven ecommerce site.
Vorteile
Hotjar is a great heatmapping software that is easy to install, has great features, and a reasonable price point.
Nachteile
If you haven't used heatmaps before the software can be a bit difficult for new users to understand. It takes some time to get our team up to speed on all of the capabilities.

Best option for a heatmap tool
Vorteile
Even that the tool doesn't replace any BI team, it could be improve a site without technical people dedicated. Helps you to understand your users and increase the CR. it has more features but it's still the best solution in heatmap site.
Nachteile
Finding time to analyze all the data and apply the insights.

Strange name, good heatmapping software, light on other features
Hotjar provided more insight into usability on our websites. Ultimately, we stopped using it for another tool, but we may switch back because of cost.
Vorteile
The heatmapping portion of hotjar is best-in-class. Provides much more accurate and robust data than similar heatmapping tools. The recordings are decent, particularly for the filters that can be applied to narrow in on specific recordings.
Nachteile
Many of the other features feel half-baked and often don't work that well. The recordings don't always show all of a user's activity, and they sometimes even show up as blank. The form tracking functionality is spotty at best and often under reports.

HotJar should always be included as part of any website. Not the best, but very little...
I always highly recommend HotJar as the first step in developing any tech stack. It's free, simple to implement and overall provides great insight into how users are navigating your website. On it's own, HotJar is rather limited but as part of a larger data strategy, it fits in perfectly.
Vorteile
Easy-to-use and provides immense value for it's cost (there's a free version for smaller companies). HotJar acts as a perfect complement to Google Analytics. Heatmapping and video recording provide a level of depth that Google Analytics can't provide and allows companies to truly understand their customers' experience.
Nachteile
Hotjar serves a very specific niche: the ability to better understand how a user navigates your website. It's hard to scale (there's a limited amount of video recordings you can have) and heatmaps only give you general, top-line insights.

Free Plan is Great, Pro Plan is Better!
As an account strategist and an account manager at a marketing company, this conversation happens often. I'll suggest a website change to try and increase conversions and the client will say "why do I need this? my website is perfect!".
Thanks to Hotjar, I can prove usability problems, show footage of potential customers getting stumped by an odd process or flow and give my client data where even they can see a change is necessary.
It helps me perform better for my clients and helps provide something unique in terms of data that other agencies may not provide.
Vorteile
Hotjar is easy to use, easy to set up and pulls great data from your website on usability and conversion topics. At the very minimum for our clients, we set them up on a free plan where you can set up three heatmaps or other reports and 300 site recordings with a site that gets under 2,000 pageviews a day.
The pro plan collects more data and more reports from higher traffic websites.
Honestly, if you're not tracking these things, you're missing a huge opportunity!
Nachteile
It's tough to think of a disadvantage to HotJar or a problem I have with the software. It tracks critical data. The free plan is AWESOME and it's easy to implement and use.

Great conversion optimization tool!
It isn't free, but at the same time, it is worth the money. Easy to implement and the value is there for the cost.
Vorteile
I love Hotjar for the heatmaps, user session recordings, conversion funnels analysis, and the detailed analytics. This is a great tool to help make the analytical data come to life with visuals. You can record sessions and analyze them to them make adjustments for future visitors. Can't beat the great data that you get from this tool!

A great heatmap solution to cover your basic needs
A great tool that allows us to capture heatmap data that is quick and easy to setup. Using the system is also very user-friendly. A worthy alternative to other solutions currently out there in the market.
Vorteile
It's easy to setup and use- especially since it's all done in the cloud. You'll start collecting data in minutes. Over time, we have been able to make actionable changes to our software's website homepage based on the click/hover insights generated by hotjar after months of activity.
Nachteile
They email you practically every day asking you to upgrade. I appreciate that they offer a variety of solutions at a relatively low price, but getting contacted regularly makes its a little overwhelming. I had to un-subscribe to receiving emails from hotjar to get peace of mind!

Great tool to get insights about users of your SaaS product
HotJar helps us to gather comprehensive analytics about how our users actually see our product.
It helped us to identify several bottlenecks, that prevented our users from completing the initial configuration - and it helped us to increase adoption of the product during the first two weeks after registration!

- Built-in editor to show messages to your users
- Built-in NPS survey editor
- Great analytics reports
Nachteile
- Sometimes we need more flexibility on tuning the conditions to show pop-ups for surveys, etc, which Hotjar does not provide.

Hotjar is a really reliable software if you want to know the truth about your website
Well, it is a pretty good event revealer. I can find out a lot of information about any of my website visitors and it gives me a lot of feedback so I can increase my traffic and my online sales.
Vorteile
This is a very strong tool that exposes the website visitors online actions and speech. Hotjar uses two methods, Analysis and Feedback. The Research tools monitor and analyze website visitors activity (see what they're up to), while the Feedback tools "listen" what website visitors are thinking.
Nachteile
In my opinion, Hotjar has at least two big problems, first is the limited page height that is set at 1500px and the second one is the disabled feature for cross-domains. Maybe they are just testing to see how it will work better in the future.

I'm using it now for 3 years already and enjoy using it daily, the features I'm using are not just the visitor's recordings but also the pools, the heatmap tool, and the funnels this all together.
Nachteile
I liked the polls features by far, it allows me to capture more leads by customers asking questions and I can get back to them and do a follow up series on them :)

Great product, very helpful insights gained
As I stated above, we use Hotjar for A/B testing. We look at heat maps, click maps, and screen recordings to track patterns of users and that informs which elements on a page we test variations of.
Vorteile
I can't possibly overstate how much value we get out of the heat map feature. We have been A/B testing on our site on several pages for a number of years, and it wouldn't have been as near as effective if we didn't have the insights gleaned from the heat maps on those pages.
Nachteile
I wish there was a way to make certain heat maps automatically restart, with a new version number appended to the title each time. With as much traffic as our site gets, I have to go in almost every day and restart a number of the heat maps.

Overall experience is positive - I would recommend to others.
Vorteile
Hotjar has many great features we use daily. We most use Hotjar to evaluate the customer traffic, tendencies/behavior, and surveying. Hotjar is an important tool for us in understanding our customers needs and actions so we can improve and provide a better experience.
Nachteile
The thing I liked least is that it does not integrate well with some of the other tools we use, like google analytics.

Valuable data for short-term results
We love HotJar when we've made changes to a landing page or site. The heatmaps are also pretty useful for giving general data. Sometimes, recordings stop for no reason or warning at all.
Vorteile
HotJar lets us know when to make changes to a site. Once we noticed that a bar on our page was inactive and customers were constantly clicking on it.
Nachteile
I wish I was notified when HotJar stops recording or it automatically deleted old recordings. Also, I cannot find a way for HotJar to not record certain pages.

Vorteile
Hotjar is a very practical and valuable tool for analyzing how our website visitors interact with our content. We mostly use heatmaps right now - analyzing specific web pages to see which content is engaging to users and understand the behavior of users. We couldn't do it without Hotjar.
Nachteile
Right now there are no complaints on our end about Hotjar. They have a lot of features that we haven't explored yet but plan on diving into this year. I will say that Hotjar positions themselves for websites; as a software development firm, it would be nice to have something like Hotjar to not only analyze our website visitors but also our software users. Hotjar doesn't appear to yet have a solution targeted to anything but websites.

Tracking
Tracking and optimizing is something we do and hotjar helps us alot.
Vorteile
This is the best software that we use to track out visitors' movements and habits in order to optimize our website for them.
Nachteile
It's pretty time consuming reviewing all videos that are recorded from each user but I guess there's no other way.

The eye of your website
Hotjar is another level of website analytics tools. You can really understand visitor behavior with screen recordings. It is very crucial for a seamless UX on your website.
Vorteile
Hotjar is a great tool to analyze your website and understand visitor behaviors. Especially the video recording of visitor movements is very helpful to understand if there is any UX problem on your website. This feature is very useful, especially on A/B tests. And it anonymizes the user data on the screen recording makes it totally GDPR compliant.
Nachteile
Setup and using the first time should be a bit difficult but once you start using the product it gets easier. I feel my website slowed down a little after installed Hotjar. I will make further tests.

The ultimate voice of visitor tool - no need for anything else
Hotjar shortcuts hours of quant research by letting you SEE what's happening on your web pages, and HEAR a users thoughts. Priceless if you're in the business of designing web pages that serve your users better.
Vorteile
It's a one-stop shop. No need for expensive subscriptions to multiple tools. Everything you need to understand your visitors is at your fingertips. The only condition for success is that you actually use it!
Nachteile
Very difficult to think of a disadvantage. It's cheap. Fully featured. Customer support is great. Perhaps the fact that you can't run a/b tests too. But there's plenty of other great tools for that.

Great UX Tool
We use HotJar to run UX tests on our site. We've used it a lot for testing out new buttons or new navigation features.
Vorteile
We love running heatmap tests of pages whenever we make changes to our website. We compare these tests to former versions that we've ran. Heatmaps offer amazing insight to where the user clicks, scrolls, or mouses over. This gives you a good idea on how the user interacts with your site.

Hotjar is an Invaluable Tool for Understanding the Success of Our Website
Overall, Hotjar has been a great tool for our business, especially after the launch of our website. It helped us to make great improvements that improved the conversions on our website!
Vorteile
Integrating Hotjar with our existing website was super easy to do! It's been a great tool to see exactly how users are interacting with our website and whether or not their behaviors line up with what actions we want to them to take. Hotjar has been really easy to use and has provided great resources to help us understand the results of heatmaps and user testing.
Nachteile
The downside I see to Hotjar is its relatively expensive cost for small businesses. While it's an excellent tool for testing website users' behavior, it can be difficult to justify such an expensive monthly cost.

Makes Qualitative User Feedback Easier Than Ever
Great. So easy to use. And easy to use with multiple different websites and client accounts.
Has given me insight that I wasn't able to get (or had to pay a lot to get it) before I had Hotjar.
Vorteile
Simplicity. Install one easy piece of script on your website or web page(s) and then everything else is managed in the Hotjar platform.
Multiple powerful tools + functions for getting great insight into how your people use your site and what is stopping them from taking the core action(s) you want more people to take on site.
Nachteile
While most of the tool is really simple to use, there are some features that always felt like a struggle to try and make work....even with some back and forth with support.
Those features were the less important ones in my eyes so I didn't mind too much.

Hotjar Review
Great. It's an absolute must at our agency and allows us to offer an additional layer of depth when working with clients.
Vorteile
Hotjar has enabled us to tremendously increase our clients' website user experience in additional to overall conversion rate. Using Hotjar, we're able to see detailed heat mapping of where users are clicking that allows us to make strategist decisions involving website design.
Nachteile
Hotjar at times will freeze and not be able to serve the heat map properly. Usually, a refresh or something similar will fix this.

Go beyond the numbers
With substantial website redesign projects having been underway at our company for the past couple of years, we've needed to do some serious thinking about the user experience on our website. Though we base much of our work on what the pure numbers tell us, having Hotjar provides us with an awesome additional tool to better understand what it looks like when people are actually browsing our site. Insights we've gleaned from Hotjar have already helped us make design and layout changes with substantial impact.
Vorteile
It's one thing to read through analytics reports and put together a vague mental image of how people are using your website. It's another thing entirely to actually see how people are navigating. With heat maps and session recordings through Hotjar, we get amazing insight into exactly how people are looking at our website, packaged in a way that people without patience for numbers-driven analysis can understand and act on.
Nachteile
Honestly, not much. Little things, like the fact that large data sets are sampled, aren't ideal, though understandable, given the need for Hotjar to tier its pricing.

Great visible analytics to guide changes
Vorteile
The interface is awesome, very easy to use. Setting up a client and starting a heatmap and getting specific for a page, a timed action is great. Same for user recordings. Also really like immediate feedback tab and polls. The script is easy to set-up website / serverside.
Nachteile
It's a Little pricey but once you use it you'll find the value. Another drawback is more JS for your site to trigger. If you already have enough requests this will be another.

Big Company Tools At Affordable Small Business Pricing!
This particular software is literally a major insight for me and how people use my site I love it!
Vorteile
The powerful thing about Hotjar is that it can track and record session when potential customers visit my site. What attracted me to Hotjar was noticing how many major companies that I follow and use in business have deployed Hotjar. It made me think along these lines instantly: Does it have a free trial? Is it affordable? Is it subscription based or do I have to purchase a license? I was able to say "yes" to all of these.
Nachteile
It was difficult for me to find any cons for this one. The only thing I can see for improvement is once the trial is ended, there is an option to continue with where I started or downgrade to free plan. Once I chose the option, a page says let's get started. It's a bit confusing because unless I notice on desktop the little green button pop up to the right that says plan changed successfully, I would have attempted to start over.

Sitemaps and heatmas become one.
I do recommend this SaaS if you have any intention of growing your businesses and especially if there is some lacking in your profits. LFine out what people are getting stuck on. fix it get it going. Make your website work for you!

As someone who works for a company that sells SaaS for sitemapping tools, Heat mapping is extremely important. Sitemapping can tell Google where to send people and help SEO but what if you're wasting space? What if there was a way to tell where your customers go and spend time and where they go and just boucne. Now you can but in a LOT more user-friendly way.
Nachteile
Honestly this could be because I am new to the platform, or because I'm still learning the importance of why this project is relevant to everyday life, but for a business standpoint, the price seems a bit steep. Maybe as I go alone this whole become more evident as to why the price is what it is but for now, it seems unnecessarily steep.

Our go-to solution for recording user behaviour
Vorteile
Easy to set up out-of-the-box, but still has enough functionality to create funnels, heatmaps, and recordings based on custom parameters (such as geo, user flow, etc).
Nachteile
Can get quite expensive, and session recordings are capped at specific #s (depends on the tier). Would rather have it cycle (where new recordings cycle through and overwrite the oldest recordings), instead of session recordings stopping after it reaches 1k, 10k, etc.

Hotjar is incredibly easy to setup. The learning curve is basically flat. The product is cheap and has a great free version.

It can slow down your website without you noticing it. Look at Google Developer Tools, the time to interactive value.

Wow, What a Product!
Within an hour of integrating it into our site and CRM (which took only minutes), we were getting recordings of user visits and heat maps, greatly increasing our ability to quickly improve the performance of our website and marketing campaigns.
Vorteile
What DON'T I like about this software is more like it. I'm blown away that there's not more reviews for HotJar and am very happy to have spotted this opportunity to give them some love.
HotJar is easily the best value-to-price behavior mapping software of its kind, and I've used and shopped for several of them. That pretty much sums it up. From heat mapping to visitor recordings to polling functionality, I simply haven't had to look for another solution since I found it, and it is much more cost-effective than its competitors. Its integrations that we have implemented have worked splendidly, as well. 5 stars, hands down.
Nachteile
I'm only listing "cons" because I have to to submit this review. Some of its user interface wasn't completely intuitive to me at first but I overcame it quickly and don't think it's fair to expect every software program to not come with a little bit of a learning curve. Within a couple of days I was navigating it fluidly.

Great way to see what your customers are doing
Vorteile
Simple to install, just one line of code and you get to see what your clients are doing on the site and interact with visitors with polls and surveys. Every mouse movement, click, and text they enter (other than passwords and credit card data of course!)
I like being able to watch the recordings of what clients are doing on our site so we can improve our UI/UX.
Nachteile
I actually had to stop using HotJar for about a year when we switched our site over to a more dynamic, single-page application (SPA) using VueJS. HotJar had a known issue where it wouldn't track or record my visitor's behavior (since it was a SPA site), so I cancelled the service for a while.
But thankfully they (finally) added that feature and the recordings works again.

Helpful UX tool for webpages
We've been able to evidence UX decisions to stakeholders: it's very handy when you need data to back up an intuition about, e.g., moving a button on a webpage.
Vorteile
It's incredibly easy to implement and to set up new pages for evaluation. We use the heatmap tool most often, but the video capture is also very useful. It's great when you want to A/B test web pages, or evidence a decision to stakeholders. The 'freemium' product licensing is also a bonus: try before you buy.
Nachteile
This product is exactly what it says it is. It's not going to replace user testing or Google Analytics, but it's a very handy adjunct to those tools.

Multi Functional
Overall this product was really useful and allowed us to make informed decisions regarding our website strategy and effectively communicate recommendations to our clients.
Vorteile
As a Hotjar user, I was really impressed with how versatile this software was. It allowed us to better understand how people move around our website and what areas were creating issues for our users. It allowed us to easily explain these problems to our clients and were an effective tool in the Growth Driven Design Process. We also used it when launching new sites. Videos allowed us to see what our clients were getting hung up while on the site making it easy to understand what changes needed to be made or what areas were causing them headaches. I did not set up our Hotjar accounts so I don't know what level of expertise is required but it seemed straighforward.
Nachteile
Hotjar is not equipped to analyze all forms and increased load times on some sites.

Gives User Feedback Quickly
For a business that is only using GA, Hotjar adds a new layer of customer behavioral data.
Vorteile
This was very easy to install on our Shopify Plus website, and it didn't take long to start seeing the data. The user recordings are fascinating and you can easily spend hours watching these recordings. They were really helpful in seeing where customers were getting confused with our header and main nav, and we were able to use this information when making changes to these sections on the site.
Nachteile
The heatmaps get repetitive after a while, it's a safe bet that everyone is going to hang out above the fold of a page most of the time. I would love to see how Hotjar could help us leverage this information, or provide something above and beyond a basic heatmap.

Excellent product - a little pricey for my liking
Excellent piece of software - would be even better if it were priced a little lower.

Hotjar continues to be a standard part of our discovery process.

Gives great insight into a current site's usability as well as what users are most interested in on the site. Gives good insight into restructuring a site for improving user experience.

Sometimes it can be challenging to get events recorded. Refer to their Troubleshooting page to get answers to most issues.

I Like HotJar to Track my User
Overall my rating to Hotjar is 9 out of 10.Really its very helpful tool.
Vorteile
