I was introduced to Mural by our organisation 's Germany Team. It is great tool in my point of view. We used mural board as only source for our workshops.
Mural have so many great features.
You can put so much altogether in one place.
Zoom in and zoom out at whole canvas.
It is interactive with its tables, graphs, features images, icons etc.
We can link our files, PPT etc in here.
We created interactive timelines on the board.
It's easy to use for new users as well.
It also have presentation mode which helps during presentation.
Best thing is sticky notes which can be put as feedback and honest reviews by the audience.
I loved using this tool and I will keep using it in our coming projects.

Nachteile

However, I loved this tool but sometimes tables are not that friendly while we are presenting and want to add something. We faced this issues while our presentations.

Vorteile

I really enjoy working with Mural Dashboards because their innovative content. We can see live view of changes made on board; we can work with dashboard at the same time which is important in big teams. The visual content is engaging and keeps people focused and relaxed rather than distracted.

Nachteile

I don't like the logging process; it always asks for a password and doesn't remember my email. This part could be improved so the sessions could be longer, and browser could also save the email.

Vorteile

Mural added life to the whiteboards, making them interactive and more expansive. I loved the ease of reviewing with Mural, all participants can enter their ideas and they are easily linked more than once until we reach the path that everyone agrees on. I loved Mural’s efficiency in documentation, as it records all the times of modifications and who made them with all efficiency. It is great that Mural simplifies the layout of the boards, with many options for font style and size, arrows, text spaces. I loved the ease of inserting images and charts in the required size within the same board. The connection to data sources is direct and easy, and allows us to keep the boards updated continuously. The templates are more than wonderful, and allow us to create many boards and charts and include them in reports or presentations with ease.

Nachteile

I cannot hate any feature of Mural, its constant real-time notifications enhance the speed of response.

Mural is pretty good and usable, but there are some limitations for certain people/workflows.

It’s definitely tailored toward people who host workshops, retros, etc., so if you’re doing that, I think Mural will be perfect for you. It’s got an integrated timer and tons of templates you can choose from.

Oh! And I appreciate whoever’s idea it was to name every single color. :)

Nachteile

Making a table or grid is impossible. I use Mural mostly for sharing copy-related work so there’s a lot of text heavy stuff I need to write in there. Making my own table takes so much time (is the connection tool technically the line tool????) but that’s the best way for me to organize info a lot of the time.

Also frustrating is double-clicking and creating a sticky note instead of a text box. If there was a way to change this default option, it would save me a LOT of time.

Infinite Canvas is a great addition but can we lower the opacity on the dot grid? It is very loud.

Mural allows users to work together in real time or asynchronously, and with potentially big groups. This has helped me organize seminars for teams and include feedback from members who were unable to attend the meeting but still wanted to contribute.

To begin, the interface is littered with many tools and buttons meant to facilitate collaboration; I found this to be somewhat bewildering before I had completed my first Mural.

Mural's accessibility is second to none. Easy group work, ideation, and coordination are just some of the benefits. I've used it successfully both in-person and over the internet with a large group of people.

Nachteile

There may be too many choices or customizations, or it may be difficult to locate the specific feature you need. The collection can be expanded to include additional types of template designs.

Vorteile

The top choice for hosting webinars online. Attendees from all across the world can easily connect to the webinar. During webinars, I was able to better clarify topics with its whiteboard tool. A query from a guest is easily raised. Meeting attendees and organizers alike can utilize the chat feature to stay in touch.

Nachteile

We have utilized Miro for this very purpose before. However, it was expensive and offered numerous other functions that I had no use for. And after I switched to Mural, everything ran smoothly.

Vorteile

My favorite feature of Mural is that it enables for the steady and continuous growth of an idea or concept over time, with contributions made offline and maintained through subsequent ruture review sessions.

Nachteile

On sometimes, I had to refresh the website because an issue has occurred while I was dragging the post it or items around with the mouse. When I spend too much time there, this happens to me.

Mural is my go-to tool for collaborating with groups online. The page navigation is intuitive. There are many useful frameworks and templates available to organize your work. Since moving most work online, Mural has been a critical tool to maintaining a collaborative work environment.

Nachteile

Some of my collaborators have found Mural to be overwhelming at first but, with some coaching, they have adjusted. I find turning off others' cursors seems to help.

I like that Mural is easy to use and allows members to collaborate on many charts. It's great that all members can participate, draw on boards, and connect ideas seamlessly. The mural is also great for having ready-made templates for most types of diagrams and covering brainstorming needs. I also like how easy it is to copy and paste, as well as edit texts on the whiteboard, and how we can change colors, add images, and do other things. It is also significant that the contents of the whiteboard are easy to format in an organized manner, as well as the ease with which they can be converted into a PDF file or an image so that they are easy to share across various media.

Nachteile

I do not hate Mural at all, but I hope that subscription prices will be reduced, or new options will be provided at lower prices, so that we can add consultants from outside the group for temporary periods.

Really collaborative for remote teams. Have some features that are really easy to use. And we have diverse tools for visualisation.

Limited offline access which is bad. Costly for large teams and sometimes we have spikes using the interface.

Mural makes collaboration enjoyable as you can be creative on how your boards would look like. Your board for today's design thiking can be transformed to a fresher more creative layout the next day. Truly, sky is the imit with Mural!

The flexibility it brings when it comes to real-time updates especially for multiple users make the board a bit unorganized which is why locking objects should be easily accesible anytime and keyboard shortcuts should be presented easily in tutorials.

When teachers ask me if I have any go-to tools for remote learning, I always tell them about Mural. During a difficult year adapting to the challenges of teaching online, Mural was a bright spot because although I had only been looking for an online whiteboard, what my students get when they use Mural is so much more.

1) It's easy to use...my students were able to find and use the tools without instructions or guides.
2) It offers many ways to express and connect ideas with a palette of tools and a convenient interface.
3) The facilitator can build custom thinkspaces or choose from a variety of templates, and also decide what elements to lock in place.
4) There are different participation levels, including the "visitor" level which allows anyone with the link to join a collaboration.
5) The "wall" space is giant...I have never run out of space, and easy navigation and zooming provide easy access to the whole space.

Nachteile

The only aspect I've found a bit challenging for those new to Mural is that sticky notes or text boxes sometimes pop up in unexpected places. As a facilitator, I sometimes have to roam around and delete unused elements that participants created but didn't find.

It made our lives so much easier. When having a lot of on-going projects with a big graphic design team it was hard to keep track of guidelines, styles and visual references without having to constantly ask each other for guidance. In Mural we keep murals for every project, designers go here everytime they have to participate in a new or existing project and document visually how it looks like and set all the important media accessible for everyone.

Nachteile

When we were considering it, we knew it was exactly what we needed but it was too pricey for our capabilities. After reading, we realized that they gave us a free year because we're on the education industry. This can be renewed once the year ends.

Mural is the thing you don't think you need and resist paying for or trying because you just don't need one more digital tool in your life and workflow. Until you experience it and realize you were so wrong. It's the one tool you actually can't live without. The concept is simple: a free space to create with a simple range of options (mostly text boxes and post-it notes). Think of it like a digital whiteboard. Then try to imagine life and meetings without a physical whiteboard. Exactly.

Nachteile

The range of options for what you can add to a Mural is somewhat limited, but that's a key part of its success. Having too many options would be paralyzing. Once you master the basic controls and options, the sky is the limit for what you can do. Lots of templates are available to help you get started or inspire you with what others have done and the Mural team is always offering support and webinars to help you explore the tool more deeply. One thing that has frustrated new users is getting the hang of controls especially if you are using on a computer (mouse vs trackpad controls are a bit different). But that is easily solved if you can get over your initial discomfort and commit to learning something new.

The software works really well. Even when collaborating with many other users simultaneously, the "Facilitation Superpowers" are a convenient set of tools.

I started using Mural on the trial version, and when the trial expired, they locked me out. I had to contact the support team, which gave me a few more days to export a PDF version of my murals. They claim to have a "free forever" version now. But I haven't tested it yet.

One of the most important characteristics of Mural is the ease and versatility it gives to brainstorming sesion. Work with people in other countries using Mural is wonderful because all ideas can be located in the same paper and increase your productivity and get a lot of ideas to solve an specific problem.

Well one of think that is important to improve or add is a tutorial for start to use Mural remember when I and our team use for the first time we spend some time trying to understand how to use it.

This software amazes. As a displayed thinking practitioner - I have long awaited the day where paper and pen could finally be matched by digital capability. We are at the dawn of that age. Too often these tools output look like something made in Microsoft Paint. Not the case here. It's elegant is display, intuitive in UX and powerful in import (templates) and export (data) . Integration and side by side use with Office 365 suite seems flawless.

Nachteile

Integration of stylus based writing is needed. Some other competitors offer the ability to transform one's handwriting into functional text which is lacking here. Having a stylus input option to create a "sticky note" and use your own handwriting would be next level for this product.

Mural is the tool I've always been looking for to visualise concepts and create conceptual maps. But it is not only this, it can be a presentation tool, you can make infographics with it, you can easily and rapidly create artwork that does not need the use of Photoshop or Illustrator. It's the tool everybody should use to present ideas to the customers. What I like most of Mural is the ease of use, the millions of icons you have and can personalise with colour and the fact that you can drag and drop text, links, videos and gifs.

Nachteile

Few options could be improved to make it even better. For example you cannot decide the size of text therefore when you enlarge text boxes you loose track of the size. There is no option to create simple tables yet, deciding the number of columns and rows. There is no media library so you have to upload every time images instead of choosing from a library or copy and paste them from another mural. Alignment sometimes is not very accurate.

I’ve used Mural for over 2 years now to run remote workshops with groups of up to 15 participants. My clients really love it! The best thing about it in my view is that you can build from independent work to group exercises and discussions and using brainstorming and the voting tool to drive decision making and action. I also like that you can invite people to collaborate with you without them having to pay for membership. Nachteile

The only thing that used to bug me about Mural was the fact that you couldn’t identify participants who joined as visitors (one time collaborators appear as anonymous animals). I noticed recently that visitors can now add their name which is really useful.I expect this change came from Mural user feedback, they do seem to develop the features over time.

With this amazing application I can easily insert photo, videos and different multimedia files into one specific folder to have an easy access to them. Another feature that is my most favorite is its integration power that enables me to integrate with all the useful applications of my interest in a very unique way.

Nachteile

For me there is no drawback in it only sometimes the updates give useless errors but otherwise everything is perfectly fine.

I like the flexibility of the tool to manage my own work, collaborate, or facilitate workshops / sessions. The tool is always evolving and I enjoy trying expanded features and how easy it is to support onboarding others.

It can be used both for personal reasons (organising trips, activities, book reviews, study notes) and for professional reasons in teams and to support entire organisations.

I really appreciate how user friendly it is and full of templates you can use and customize for any need.
Also great is the customer care and IT support.

I do a lot of idea generation for patenting purposes. This requires sharing of data and good note taking tool. Mural is really helpful as a blank whiteboard to start on an idea from scratch. the real-time updated from the users makes it really useful to use it during an online group call.

Sometimes I have to zoom in quite a bit to look at some of the documents we worked on. It's more like Prezi presentation tool. It give me a headache from time to time.

I like that Mural allows for collaboration and a great way to visually share ideas. We aren't able to actually whiteboard in person, since my team is all over the country, but Mural lets us work collaboratively pretty easily. We love using stick notes and putting pictures into the document.

I dislike the sketching ability. I find it very hard to even do really simple sketches, like drawing a stick figure is too complicated. It would be nice to be able to easily draw a timeline or something to get ideas across more effectively.

My project team started using Mural in last 2 years and it has been remarkably easy to collaborate and brainstorm with the hybrid teams. As a Product owner, the best feature about Mural is the availability of vast collection of templates. It saves a lot of time by picking up a pre-made template and refine it for your meeting/session. Additionally, its UI is super intuitive and easy to use, even for the business users, who are not as technically savvy as your design team members.Mural helps in organizing the complex ideas and concepts. It is extremely easy to share it with team members or clients for approvals.

Nachteile

One thing I don't enjoy about Mural is its mobile experience. It is not very intuitive as compared to desktop experience. Its easier to learn the basic features of Mural, in order to contribute or participate in a meeting. however, if you want to use Mural to its full capacity, you will need to learn the complex features via some sort of training/learning material.

During the pandemic, we started using Mural as a way to collaborate with each other. We had in person workshops which were obviously affected. We experimented with using Mural for one our our games/exercises and do it virtually. It was fun to see how far we could push the application outside of it's core design. We use it now for whiteboarding in virtual sessions, brainstorming and mapping.

So far we haven't had much negative feedback on Mural. As we have more users come in and use the software we'll gather feedback and share.

Mural is one of the best whiteboards, as it is responsive, so we can participate remotely to complete the scheme that we are working on preparing very smoothly. I greatly appreciate the ready-made templates that Mural provides, as they give us advanced resources and ideas that help us be creative by implementing what we need during the brainstorming stage, or when planning work programs. I really appreciate the many formatting options and also the colors that we can add to the text boxes and the different shapes. It's great how Mural can see the edits that a member has made, and also how we can vote whether or not to approve them.

Nachteile

Not many negatives, as the Mural interface is very intuitive and easy to use, but since the members involved in preparing a chart do not have the same ability to format shapes and texts as required, this leads to double effort when formatting the agreed chart in its final form.

MuRAL's biggest feature is that it has a dependable and easy-to-use interface that team members may tailor to fit their needs. You can interact successfully with people who aren't on your team using MURAL because they don't need an account to be able to do so, and their thoughts can be included on the boards we are working on. It's more easier and more pleasurable to work with MURAL because of the front-end presentation style and pre-made templates. What I like most about our whiteboard brainstorming session is that it allows us to better comprehend the scope of the project and discover creative solutions for any overlaps. As a result, I appreciate that we can categorize our cards and designate certain cards for specific team members to ensure that everyone is on the same page, and I also appreciate how simple it is for me to switch between several boards.

Few drawbacks exist; the strength of MURAL will be evident as an integrated system for all operations and meetings within the institution as team members' acceptance of the system and their response to the topics and plans we wish to discuss with it grow.

MURAL helps team members stay connected and collaborate to stay on schedule. The MURAL whiteboard is great for brainstorming and arranging interactive sessions. I adore using emojis, shapes, and colors to develop a workflow model or collect team members' opinions and perceptions on a topic for third-party sharing. I like how MURAL lets us prepare Proto-Personas, Prioritize, and Experience Map with team members. It's expressive, accurate, and describes our issue well. I like MURAL's ability to organize cards into categories and assign cards to team members so everyone is on the same page. I like that MURAL has an intuitive interface that everyone can adopt to quickly, and the presence of several ready-made templates helps prepare the proper form for the topic we're discussing. I particularly like that final renderings may be exported as an image or PDF file for simple distribution.

Nachteile

In all honesty, it's not about finding something you might hate with MURAL, as it's like a magical drawing tablet that enables everyone to share and collaborate in all circumstances and with ease.

It's a decent tool for digital whiteboarding and collaborating with colleagues.

However, it does not bring much extra to the table compared to the various alternatives available (Miro, FigJam, etc).

It does what it says on the tin. You can still manage your way around in the app, it's just that it doesn't inspire much in the way Miro does. Templates are unappealing, fonts are unappealing and it takes effort to adjust everything to your own liking, more than it should.

Nachteile

I just really miss using Miro to be honest. Mural has everything Miro has, but in a lesser form. It's like Powerpoint vs Keynote. Powerpoint definitely will get the job done but if you want to have more control or use advanced features you will want to use Keynote. As a designer I miss that in Mural. In that same fashion, Mural also allows you to have more administrative rights over others, just like Powerpoint can force you to use company templates in limited ways.

I love that mural gives me the tools to dump my ideas into one place and sort them. They offer great templates that give me a way to get started without being intimidated, and I love that I can invite coworkers in this space to see my thinking and to document their thinking there as well. Great springboard for conversations.

Nachteile

Sometimes I get a bit confused with the level of zoom and the amount of space available. I sometimes feel like my level of zoom and the sizing of the post its is not calibrated. it's hard to know how much to zoom in so that I can still read what's on sticky notes while still seeing the surrounding ones.

As a designer I use Mural daily to run co-design workshop with dozens of people. The simplicity of the tool makes it easy to understand and use even for people that are not much into technology. A couple of features I particularly appreciate are the content library (even though should be improved) and the possibility to multiple templates from different companies. Also che call feature looks interesting even though I never used it so far.

Nachteile

There are things that needs improvement fast. I'll list a few.
1. Rooms should allow to sort murals in alphabetical order and to have a simple list visualization. Also names should not be cut like they are now (the only way to see the full name is via the tooltip)
2. Rooms and archive in my opinion are not enough to organize murals. It would be way better to have rooms and then the possibility to organize murals in folders inside a room.
3. It should be much easier to change the room/mural permissions. We often have sessions with dozens of people but only a few of them should have the possibility to edit. At the moment there is no bulk way to change the view only/edit permission
4. Grouping elements inside a mural should be enhanced. At the moment you cannot have a group of groups and that makes it harder to keep a logical architecture of the elements in a mural
5. At the moment there is no specific feature to create schemes or diagrams. We really would love that.
6. It would be much easier sometimes to have the possibility to specify the object size manually.
7. Content library needs to be improved to be really useful. Elements needs folders for a better organization.
