Vorteile

My company incorporated Okta into our daily workflow and everything has been a breeze since. No need to type in my password every time I'm logging in or worry about security breaches because Okta saves it all. It has a plug in which makes it even more accessible as you can log into another software without going through the hassle of getting to another page and signing in. It also only requires on log in session so you needn't constantly have to resign into it every time you need to get to another software.

The phone's app UI is sleek and modern and receives the authentication requests very fast. You can also add your personal websites that use multifactor authentication to it.

Nachteile

No cons to be completely honest. And that's the reason why my company has incorporated it into a lot of things.

Vorteile

Very rich feature set with multiple options for MFA and SSO.Policies are very easy to configure . Logging is very useful .It was very easy integration with our F5 SSL VPN.

Nachteile

almost nothing probably most secure solution on the market.

Vorteile

Okta is very easy to use. I got the app on my phone and is very useful to login verification to the VPN that I use for work. The notification pops up immediately and I have never had a problem with it. It is also great to to single sign-on to platforms that I use for work such as outlook, oracle, confluence and many others.

Nachteile

There should be another way to connect to okta because I once lost my phone and was not able to login to the vpn because the notification will go through my phone only.

Getting the team set up was relatively straightforward.

Setting up individual apps can be tedious and not straightforward. They offered no support unless we paid them. The paywall for SSO is very steep. Multiple users cannot access single accounts using Okta Verify.

I find it to be a highly effective identity and access management solution. Okta allows me to easily and securely access all the applications and systems I need for my job, from anywhere and on any device. I can use a single set of login credentials for multiple apps, which saves me time and ensures that I can keep my accounts secure. One of the key benefits of Okta is its ease of use. The interface is intuitive and user-friendly, and it’s easy to navigate to the applications I need. I appreciate the ability to quickly search for and find the apps I need, and I also find it helpful that I can customize the dashboard to show only the apps that are relevant to me.

Nachteile

One potential drawback of Okta is its cost. The licensing fees for Okta can be quite high.

Software is easy to use and implement. The Control panel just makes sense. Every implementation is very well documented and pretty much walks you through every integration possible. MFA is fairly easy. Support is great. Even pre-sale, we were able to get support from sales engineers and it was great. Pricing is nice too if you go through a reseller.

Nachteile

While the control panel is nice, there are quirks. The bulk delete users process is painful, you almost have to do it one by one. The MFA, while nice, can be quirky. I am getting a bit fed up with the number of authenticator apps on my phone.

Integration setup was much easier with Okta making this a no-brainer pick.

Vorteile

Training materials are many and help in understanding the app. This is super easy to use and has a user-friendly interface.Authentication Notification while login is very helpful and has no risk and the SSO feature increases the flexibility for the users.

Nachteile

Account may be logged out unnecessarily. Sometimes passwords or fingerprints are not accepted while authenticating.

Using this app we can log in to our account securely using realtime OTP or Send push option.

I don't see any bugs in this Okta authendicator.

I would say that it is easier than other team/workforce email software that our company has used in the past. However, I still find it a bit convoluted. It seems like there are many things that can be integrated into our Okta settings.

Nachteile

I do not know if this is the fault of Okta or our headquarters, but it is still hard to see the full benefits of using Okta for our workplace email/communications.

Vorteile

The best feature was the Okta Sign-in widget which was used as all the application's sign-in page and served by an AWS Lambda function without issues. The registration (onboarding) flow was easy for users to follow. Integrations to in house developed application + AD was easy to implement. Reporting to see which users were internal vs external made it easy for us to implement different password policies. We were also able to integrate with other clients that were already using Okta for SSO.

Nachteile

In my opinion the API rate limiting tiers are expensive to operate at scale.

I would like it if Okta could make it simpler for other software suppliers to enable provisioning, as it greatly facilitates both the on-boarding and off-boarding of personnel as well as employee life cycle changes.

When I wanted to connect to my company VPN or internal tools, Okta offered the finest security for business tool logins. It offers the advantage of having access to business resources centralized in a robust, customized security and access control system.

Nachteile

Although this platform offers reliability and ease of access and identity management. I would like its user interface to be a bit more modern and visually pleasing.

Vorteile

Lets you access Apps without directly using VPN. This is useful for working remotely since you can use your personal computer to access the Apps instead of bringing your work computer home to access the Apps. All you need is username and password, and second authentication (if set up) to log into Okta to access your Apps.

Nachteile

There are still certain Apps that need direct VPN in order to access remotely. For these Apps, you still need to bring home your work computer to connect directly to VPN to access them. If this limitation can be overcome, then Okta would be fantastic for remote work; you no longer need to bring your work computer home.

Vorteile

I love this tool. No longer have to risk giving out passwords to account. I can just give my user access to an OKTA account and then assign them chicklets to access account, software, groups and so forth, without them ever having to know the password to them. It works well and is fairly easy to use and set up users. The AD tie in is nice and helps in making it easier to add users to your account. Put yourself at ease and give OKTA a real look you will not be disappointed.

Nachteile

i would say adding users can seem a bit tricky and odd if you don't do it all the time, it could be a little clearer on adding users into your account. but other than that its pretty solid software

It allows a good workflow and effective management that minimizes risks. It is highly scalable and easy to use. The self-service it offers allows end users to request a new access without any complications. It allows you to manage the life cycle of a user and the resources and responsibilities to which they have access.

Nachteile

Although it is an effective and secure platform, its initial installation is very complicated, it presents many configurations.

At my company, we had separate logins for SO MANY PLATFORMS. And you know how it goes - each password has to contain a certain number of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, special characters, etc. It was getting so hard to remember passwords, and I was getting sick of having to reset my password every time I logged into something. OKTA solved that problem for me. By navigating to the OKTA page, I could click on one of the "tiles", and it would log me into that platform. Made my life 100x easier.

Nachteile

Occasionally, I would have issues logging into OKTA itself, which made it impossible to log into my other apps. This was a bug that our IT team seemed to fix. Aside of that, a lot of my issues turned out to be user-error. Once I received training for OKTA, all of my problems were resolved.

Vorteile

Our organization has well over 50 cloud-based applications deployed in various parts of the business. Okta enables single sign-on by the user, enabling access to all these applications in one place. Users do not need to know or have to remember the web address (url) or credentials (username and password) to the individual websites / application.

Nachteile

There is the option for the user to show Recent Apps, which automatically populates the last 6 apps accessed. However, it would be helpful for the user to be able to mark an app as a favorite and a Favorites section to automatically populate. Currently, a user would have to manually add a section, label it as Favorites and manually drag in their chosen apps.

Okta is expensive but an extremely valuable today especially in today's world of cyber security.

While the tool is great to use the barrier to entry is high as its very expensive compared to competition.

I like the fact that okta offer you various options that you receive multi-factor authorization notification, for example I really like that you request notification thru phone or RSA secure

Nachteile

I don’t like the fact that Okta does not offer the face Authenticator option for the main log in screen & instead you have to enter your organization’s user information each time you download the app. Also the fact that there is 2 apps with similar names Okta Verify & Okta Mobile is kind of confusing.

Vorteile

Okta is intuitive to manage. It packages a lot of components into a single pane of glass (unlike, say, Microsoft's solution which requires a bunch of disparate systems). You get a log of value for your money. The support and development teams are responsive. The support for single sign-on to non-SSO apps with the browser plugin is very helpful. The product looks nice, and is easy for end users to use. The Okta Application Network has far more apps total, with SAML support, and with provisioning support than the competitors.

Nachteile

Their MDM solution (OMM) is very basic, and slow to develop more features. It would be nice if you could deploy any mobile app you wish, not just the ones associated with catalog apps. OMM should really support enterprise wireless profiles as well. The browser plugin for IE sometimes misbehaves, and upgrading it doesn't always go as smoothly as it should.

I love how easy this platform is for end users to immediately pick up and use. It is also extremely powerful for IT admins to configure. The Okta Integration Network is a great resource to see if an app / platform is supported. I also LOVE that they offer free training and certifications.

Nachteile

I wish there was more documentation on how to configure applications from the Okta side. Example: I need to pass a parameter from Okta into my LMS, but neither the LMS vendor nor Okta has any docs stating how to do this.

Vorteile

Okta provides security that doesn't create burdensome obstacles. I love that Okta is really easy to verify with. It also serves as a centralized page to find all sorts of applications that I use every single day. It even allows you to customize the order of the applications so you aren't searching for the ones you use more regularly. I really love the Okta Extension on Google. It makes life so much easier.

Nachteile

I haven't experienced this, but some people have had to verify more often than they would like. I think for most people, it just does it automatically.

Vorteile

A true single sign on platform. We are a high volume company with over 1200 employees and utilize multiple cloud-based vendors. Having all of these platforms centralized within Okta is invaluable. I could not imagine my day-to-day without it.

API documentation is extensive and functionality is robust. Okta has become our "Single Source of Truth" for not only connecting vendors, but also our data.

Mobile based app is intuitive and fast for dual-authentication. System is very secure. Hand-offs are seamless.

Nachteile

Dual authentication and tokens can sometime require a dual submission.

Permission grants and overall setup for user-specific platforms may take some time.

Other than that, not much more!
